I have an idea...

When Niki has an idea, it usually means that Aaron is building something, fixing something, or going on an adventure with her.

UpCountree Cabins was one of those, "I have an idea" moments.

Niki is the second oldest of 10. When she went on a sister's trip to Broken Bow, Oklahoma and saw the beautiful Texas countryside on the way, she knew Texas had a piece of her heart and UpCountree Cabins was born.

Welcome to the Wild! A Safari Tent Glamping Experience That Redefines Romance and Adventure Just Outside of Dallas, Texas

[Point, TX] Wild. One-of-a-kind. Unreal. These are just a few words guests have used to describe this new glamping experience. From the serene beauty of its natural wooded surroundings to the funky, fun, and wildly African designs within, this luxurious retreat is a gateway to another world. Set in the heart of nature, the newly completed Sultry Safari Glamping Tent invites travelers to escape the mundane and indulge in a perfect balance of adventure, romance, and comfort, all within a few hours of home.

An Authentic Escape

Travelers want more than an average stay; they want an unforgettable experience! The Sultry Safari, an authentic Bushtec safari tent—sourced directly from South Africa—transports guests from a quiet country retreat on the outside to a wild safari on the inside. With a lavish four-poster bed dripping in black velvet curtains, gold velvet linens, and rich green silk sheets, a bathroom to rival luxury spas featuring an oversized round soaking tub and rain shower, exotic custom epoxy floors throughout, authentic African décor, and a cozy electric fireplace, every element of this retreat is crafted for comfort and romance with a touch of opulence. The expansive 1,800 sq. ft. wrap-around deck offers a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor living, inviting guests to unwind under the vast Texas sky or soak in the 8’ open-air tub while listening to the sounds of nature.

Thoughtfully Designed for Every Season

Unlike traditional glamping setups, this retreat is built for year-round enjoyment. Specialty insulating curtains and an oversized dual A/C and heating system ensure guests remain comfortable no matter the season. Eco-conscious touches, including cedar-topped tables crafted from downed trees on the property and sustainable toiletries, reflect a commitment to both luxury and environmental stewardship.

The Story Behind the Stay

This one-of-a-kind escape is the creation of husband-and-wife duo Niki and Aaron Tonks, whose passion for travel and design led them to build unique stays that go beyond the ordinary. With a shared love for adventure—fueled by their world travels—they envisioned a space that captures the magic of an African safari while honoring the natural beauty of Texas. With 35 years of caring for a 1920's Art Deco style historic high school in Northern Utah, Aaron can fix, build, or MacGyver (almost) anything. With a 25+ year career in marketing, design, business development, and social media, Niki isn't afraid to take on projects big or small, including waterfalls, cliffs, oceans, mountains, and now crazy cabins.

What started as a hands-on, whimsical project for Niki and Aaron to stay in while visiting their Texas family quickly became a passion they couldn’t keep to themselves. They initially built a small treehouse retreat that has hosted secret elopements, proposals, honeymoons, babymoons, anniversaries, and solo retreats. After receiving 150+ consecutive 5-star reviews over the past two years, they decided to create another extraordinary experience to share. The Sultry Safari was born.

A Story Worth Sharing

This Sultry Safari Glamping Tent isn’t just a place to stay—it’s an invitation to rediscover connection, nature, and a little bit of romance in the wild! For travel writers, bloggers, and editors seeking fresh and inspiring destinations to share with their audiences, this retreat offers a compelling narrative of passion, craftsmanship, and the art of slow travel.

If you’re looking for a unique feature that blends luxury with adventure, we’d love to collaborate. High-resolution images, exclusive insights, and press access to the property are available upon request. Let’s inspire your audience to embrace a truly extraordinary travel experience.
